Bill Taylor, MPM
Elite Mindset Lab Founder
Mental Performance Mastery Coach (MPM)
USATF Level 1 & 2 Coach
I’ve been amazed by the power of the mind over athletic performance since my junior year of high school when I accidentally discovered that limits are in the mind and are self-imposed (read this blog for that story: https://www.elitemindsetlab.com/home/blogs/accidental-belief).
That one amazing and unlikely event in my life ultimately pushed me into a very successful coaching career that spanned 26-years. It created a fire in me to help people unlock and use the power of their mental state to accomplish greatness.
As an athlete, I worked through my mental game on my own and saw first-hand how my mind could sabotage me and how it could lift me to huge breakthroughs. But I didn’t understand how to train and use my mind formally and consistently. I also didn’t have anyone to teach me and hold me accountable.
While that was unfortunate in terms of my own personal athletic career, it ultimately made me an incredible coach. Whatever doubts, struggles, and mental barriers my athletes faced…I had been there. I knew what they felt and I knew they could break through.
My greatest strength as a coach is helping my athletes believe in themselves. I have a gift to help athletes believe and do things they previously didn’t believe were possible. I’ve been able to help unlock incredible breakthroughs for hundreds of athletes.
At the collegiate level, I took the toughest jobs in the nation, at places that had never experienced anything close to the success I expected and believed in. When I took each position, I shared my goals and expectations and was openly laughed at and told my goals were absolutely impossible. I proved over and over that every goal and expectation I had was 100% possible. The success happened because of mindset and belief.
I built championship teams where nobody thought it possible. I helped athletes improve their 5000m times by 4-minutes and more! I’ve watched athlete after athlete absolutely shock themselves by accomplishing things they previously believed impossible (times, championships, all-conference, All-American, team championships, etc.).
I love coaching Cross Country and Track & Field, but what I truly love about it is seeing people “get it” and that isn’t exclusive to one sport. Helping people believe, giving them tools and encouragement, and seeing the unbelievable results that come about with an elite mindset is something I am gifted in and something that brings me great joy and satisfaction.
The tools, techniques, and coaching I used to do the impossible with teams and runners are universal in sports and in life. They equally impact success for athletes in football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, hockey, swimming, shooting sports, auto racing, tennis, golf, baseball, softball, gymnastics, climbing, wrestling, boxing, skiing, biking, and every other sport and athletic pursuit.
I love making an impact on people in every sport and everywhere. I enjoy helping athletes and teams at every level from high school, college, post-college, and pro, to learn how to believe in themselves and how to use their minds to unlock unlimited levels of performance and consistency.
This is why Elite Mindset Lab exists.
Elite mindset and mental toughness are 100% learnable by anyone. There are a multitude of absolutely proven tools to transform into an elite mindset that unlocks your best. Elite mindset coaching is critical for an athlete or team to transform their mental game so they can be at their best in the physical game.
You cannot be at your very best without an Elite Mindset.
It is true that some are born with or develop an elite mindset and mental toughness on their own. Those are rare people. Everyone has unlimited potential and the ability to unlock it by developing an elite mindset. But doing it on your own is like doing your sport without a coach. Even if you completely understand your sport, the training, the tactics, you will always gain and perform better if you have a great coach to guide you.
It’s common for people to say that 50% (or more) of athletic performance is mental. If at least 50% of athletic performance is mental and there is clear proven training available for the mind, why do most leave the mental game to chance? Why do most leave at least 50% of their performance on the table, unused?
The answer is that most people don’t know what to do about it. People know it is important, but most athletes don’t know there are tools and skills that can be easily learned to dramatically improve 50% of their performance. It’s confusing and really hard to figure out on your own, so it gets ignored. Without even knowing it, athletes and teams are sacrificing performance, consistency, and enjoyment because they don’t know what to do about the mental game.
Performance, consistency, and enjoyment are the biggest rewards of an elite mindset. Elite mindset unlocks unlimited performance increases. It increases performance consistency in general and performance consistency in the biggest competitions. Finally, elite mindset changes mental perspective, identity, and purpose that frees athletes to enjoy their athletic pursuits much more.
So my goal and my joy are to instill these tools and techniques into any athlete, coach, or team that wants to unlock the highest levels of success, wants to perform with consistency, and wants to enjoy their athletic pursuits more.
I get to use my experience and my proven gifts as a coach to personalize and customize it, and to be the vital sounding board, accountability partner, teacher, and mental mentor that magnifies the speed and power of their mental game.
I want to work with you! I want to help you do things you never dreamed of! I want to help you unlock all the potential that is just waiting there for the right tools and coaching to unlock it!
